About Me

I established an independent private practice in 1994 and have been at my current location in Vienna since 2004.

Prior to private practice, I treated adults with serious mental illness in outpatient, residential, crisis care, and emergency settings at the Mt. Vernon Community Mental Health Center in Alexandria, Virginia.  I also served as the after-hours psychiatric liaison, conducting emergency psychiatric evaluations and interventions at the Mt. Vernon Hospital.

My clinical internships were on the inpatient psychiatric unit of the Walter Reed Army Medical Center and the Women’s Center of Northern Virginia.

MSW, Virginia Commonwealth University, Falls Church, VA  (1991)
BA, Gustavus Adolphus College, St. Peter, MN (1983)

I am committed to professional excellence and regularly participate in workshops, seminars, classes and other learning opportunities to advance my clinical skills and stay current with research and scientific advances in the field.

I am married and the parent of grown children and a funny, inquisitive cockatiel named Mango who sometimes joins me at the office.  My roots are in the mountains of the West and the farmlands of the Midwest, and I bring the down-to-earth sensibilities of those places to my work with clients.  When not at the office, I like to be outdoors, relaxing in a hammock, or finding ways to make healthy food tasty.
